It'll be out when it's out. Go play something else in the meantime.

I will be playing my entire iTunes library on Audiosurf instead of GW2.

There is of course a downside to them announcing anything about game content for GW2.
Other game manufacturers get to copy the ideas and come out first with a game.
Its why most companies don't release details of new products much before the launch date.

I, as a noob who has only been playing for 2 months, finds this as a sigh of relief. I have done very little with this game in the overall scheme of things (I don't even have EotN yet), and I was getting rather worried that by the time i get in the grove of things and will be able to do pretty much anything I want, everyone will leave for GW2.
Consider the noobs.. all of us still want to play the game without it dieing completely before we even contemplate moving on.

Releasing information != Releasing game
The game will be released when ready, and information being released isn't going to affect the release. You have well over a year to play the game, don't worry about it.

We're also going to be discussing taking some of these titles that have really been PC only sort of clients thus far and taking them out to other platforms.

guild wars on a xbox360 or ps3 LOLOLOLOLOLOL
actually being able to play on a xbox 360 or ps3 would be sweet though i hope they would make the controls in such a way that it would eather support a keyboard and mouse or make it so you don't lose any compatibility so they can join the pc world in playing.

Le sigh...
They really did announce it too early if they cant even give us any information a year after its initial announcement.

I predict we will never hear about GW2 again, including before and after release. The less you know it exists, the more you want it.

The only reason we know that GW2 will be coming out AT ALL is the fact that they had to halt GW1's 6 month campaign release model. They had to tell us why they were not going to have any more GW campaigns and that reason was GW2. If GW2 was just another MMO release ANET would not have even announced GW2 was even going to be a game until it was closer to release. Telling people about something to far in advance makes people start threads like this one.

It's September 2008 and we have pretty much no information. There's no way the release is going to be June 2009.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather buy a game that I know information on than buy a game I have no information on. Generally the former let's me know I'm spending money on something I'll like.

They originally expected GW2 to have a beta at the end of this year. I think what pushed that back was that WAR got pushed back and they are similar. They were probably hoping WAR would get released in spring like planned so that all their employees could play through it and find out what worked in RvR and such that they are also planning and how to improve upon it. With the delay to WAR, they don't know what to build upon to make GW2 better and had to forge their own way a bit. So I think it is possible we will get the beta in spring or summer with a release that fall or winter.

I'm not surprised this is the case with GW2. I only have one thing I care about regarding GW2 and that's if the amount of "pop culture" references will be insane much like EotN contains.
